This vintage Suzani is a lively piece of folk art, with bold crimson blossoms, pomegranate motifs, and curling cornflower blue vines embroidered across a warm ivory ground. The loose, expressive handwork gives the traditional botanical motifs plenty of movement and personality. Paired with our hand block printed Balan Azure fabric on the reverse.

Story

Suzanis are traditional embroidered tribal textiles that John collects on his journeys through India. Their name comes from the Persian word suzan, meaning “needle,” a nod to the intricate hand embroidery that gives each piece its distinctive character. For this collection, each Suzani has been paired with a coordinating, hand block printed John Robshaw fabric on the reverse.
